Your résumé shows where you’ve been. Your pitch tells people what you’re doing now, and that’s often what helps people remember you.
Welcome to the first session of our Level Up professional development series! This workshop teaches how to deliver an elevator pitch: starting with a short, specific answer to “What are you working on now, and why does it matter?”
To help you move beyond simply reciting your resume, this session will cover the speaker’s advice for making a strong impression, building your network, and advancing your career.
About the Speaker
David Chang is a State Department staffer with over eight years of experience in the Washington, D.C. professional environment and a former TAP-DC board member. He credits practicing his elevator pitch with sustaining and advancing his career, even amid challenges in the federal workforce and job market.
What to Expect
The session includes a presentation from the speaker followed by a hands-on workshop hosted by TAP-DC where you’ll work on your own pitch with other participants and get live feedback. Whether you are a student or early-career professional, you will leave with a pitch you’ve tried out loud, ready to use at your next networking event or interview.
